Kohl’s Groupie

By MOM Leave a Comment

This may sound weird to some, however, I am very new to the “Kohl’s” experience. :) Our first trip to Kohl’s was Black Friday 2010. We needed luggage for a trip we were going to be taking and their sale looked good. Now, I had heard about them from time to time from a few groupies friends that LOVE them. This, however, was my first time.

I was AMAZED at all the many affordable items they have. I mean this place is not only for the whole family, it has something for just about every room of your house as well. It’s like an all in one super/discount/brand name/shoppers dream store.

I was hooked from the get go–much to my husbands dismay. ROFL!

I am now assimilated and a part of the Kohl’s groupie list. This may sound ridiculous to those who have never been to Kohl’s–I know I was skeptical of its power. It is like a shoppers drug dealer. LOL! Everything you need is there at affordable pricing. Very affordable.

Since, my initial visit, I am a frequent shopper and LOVE their coupons that pull me back for more! LOL! I have found many cute outfits for my newly thin booty, shoes, jewelry, dresses for my little one, cool jeans for the teenager, and more–even hubbie has managed to find some great items.

Sadly, my husband is refusing to give in to peer pressure and does his best to discourage me from my need for a Kohl’s fix. However, I am his drug of choice, so I win more then I lose this battle! ;)

Seasons 52 – {Altamonte Springs, FL}

By MOM Leave a Comment

Recently,  my oldest daughter and I went on a momma/daughter date to Seasons 52 in Altamonte Springs, FL. I had been there once a loooooong time ago and remembered that I really liked it. I am happy to tell you that I STILL do! It was fabulous.

The service was on point. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and kept our drinks full.

The food was absolutely delicious!

Seasons 52: Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon cremini mushrooms, rainbow carrots, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoesWe shared an appetizer: Lump Crab, Roasted Shrimp & Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms under Parmesan-panko crust. I asked if the shrimp was wild caught because I am allergic to farm raised, and YAY it was! This was DELICIOUS!

We got the same entrée, and it was: Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon cremini mushrooms, rainbow carrots, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. YUM! And, shocking that it was not over 475 calories (keep reading for more on that)! It was one of the BEST filets I have ever had. Seriously.

Then, even though their desserts are “mini indulgences”, we still decided to share one (I was getting full!), and picked the Mocha Macchiato. Lord have mercy it was yummylicious! The whole meal rocked.Seasons 52: Mocha Macchiato

The atmosphere was comfortable, upscale… but not to the point of feeling uncomfortable in shorts and a t-shirt, and the ambiance was perfect for girls night or a romantic evening. It was just awesome.

The pricing was my only negative on the whole experience. Our bill with food and drinks (sodas and then coffee with dessert) was $80.30 BEFORE tip.  It was pretty steep as far as what I feel it should have been in comparison with similar restaurants. However, it really is hard to compare a place like Seasons 52 since they are … well… unique. At least to me!

Seasons 52 does not have the same stale menu year after year after year. They change it 4 times a year–with the seasons. They also promise to have nothing on their menu higher than 475 calories! And, let me tell you, the way my food tasted… and knowing it was prepared in a low calorie way… I am shocked at how yummy it was. I could not tell AT ALL that it was prepared in a way that kept the calorie count at a reasonable number–and like I mentioned above, I got a steak!

So, if you have been in the past, try them again. If you have never been, see if there is a location near you, and give them a shot. They get two thumbs up from this diner!

By the way… this is what my plate looked like at the end of the main course…
